I would encourage everyone to view the debate: Is Islam a religion of peace? In this debate, I argued four main contentions as to why Islam is a religion of peace. And of course, my opponent Sam Shamoun was able to refute a single one of these contentions. Rather, he avoided these four arguments and raised other irrelevant issues. The four arguments are as follows:

 

 

  1. Because Islam teaches to fight against oppression and tyranny around the world. The Quran states the following:

    And what is wrong with you that you fight not in the Cause of Allâh, and for those weak, illtreated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help." (An-Nisa 4:75)

According chapter 4 verse 75 of the Quran, Muslims are obligated to fight against tyrants such as Adolph Hitler and Pol Pot. You are seeing people crying in front of you, for example on your television screens, praying for someone to come rescue them from genocide or ethnic cleansing. Thus, military Jihad is the answer to that prayer. Therefore, Jihad is the answer to the prayer of those who are weak and oppressed people all over the world.


  1. Because Islam condemns terrorism. It should be clear now, that Jihad has nothing to do with terrorism.


  2. Because Islam encourages Muslims to make peace among mankind:

And make not Allâh's (Name) an excuse in your oaths against your doing good and acting piously, and making peace among mankind. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower (i.e. do not swear much and if you have sworn against doing something good then give an expiation for the oath and do good). (Al-Baqarah 2:224)

According to Chapter 2 verse 224 of the Quran, Muslims are obligated to make peace in the world. This includes resolving conflicts between nations, as the Prophet Muhammed(P) lead the example by solving the disputes between the two warring tribes of the Aws and the Khadraj.


  1. Because Islam came to confront and condemn the genocide and terrorism of Biblical Christianity.

 

 

In conclusion, we are ready to accept more challenges to debate for those who doubt. However, it seems that those who disagree are having cold feet and sacred to come forward. Rather they are sticking with spreading their false propaganda on their nationally syndicated radio shows, Foxnews, and flooding the internet with their ant Islamic propaganda. Again… we are ready to debate they are not.
