Does Islam Really Permit A Muslim Women
To Marry Outside Her Faith?

In one of her latest scams, Irshad Manji stated the following:

“Their parents and imams tell them that Islam forbids marriage outside the faith. But that is not necessarily true. Dr. Khaleel Mohammed, a progressive American imam educated at traditional universities in the Middle East, has written a clear defense of inter-faith marriage from an Islamic perspective. I have posted his “blessing” on my website.”

Ok, one quick question before we begin – Who is this loser Dr. Khaleel Mohammed? Well, it doesn’t matter, because no matter who he is, we are going to put the smack down on this clown. There is no need to go into a point-by-point rebuttal of his article, as we will simply show you verses from the Quran, which Dr. Khaleel Mohammed withheld or try to “cover up” in his article, which clearly states that it is forbidden for Muslim woman to marry outside her faith.

To keep this article short, we are only going to focus on if a Muslim woman can marry a Christian or Hindu. The Islamic position regarding interfaith-marriage between Christians and Hindus is very clearly stated in the following verse of the Holy Quran:

And the woman who agrees to marry (have a sexual relation with) a Mushrik or an adulterer, then she is either a prostitute or a Mushrikah(female Mushrik). Such a thing is forbidden to the believers (of Islamic Monotheism). (An-Nur 24:3)

Here we can see that God has *forbidden* the marriage of a Muslim woman to Mushriks. So you might ask, who is a Mushrik? The answer is stated in the following verse:

Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah [Jesus], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners (yushrik) in worship with Allah then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zâlimûn there are no helpers. (Al-Ma'idah 5:72)

As we can see from this verse, when Christians believe that Jesus is God, they are setting up partners with Allah. The Arabic word being used here for setting up partners is: yushrik. Also see verses 9:30-31.

Ok, let’s do a little Arabic 101. I think we need to understand what do these words mushrik and yushrik mean. Shirk is the practice of setting up partners with Allah. Therefore, a practitioner of shirk is called a mu-shrik, or mushrik. In the Arabic language, all you have to do is add a “mu” in front of a word to show that you are a practitioner of that object. Here is another example:

Jihad (means strive in the path of God) --- > now we add the “mu” to the word --- > mu-jihad or mujahid. A Mujahid is a practioner of Jihad.

Here is another example:

Islam (means to submit to God) --- > now we add the “mu” to the word --- > Mu-islam or Muslim. A Muslim is a practioner of Islam.

So we have looked at 3 Arabic words: Muslim, Mujahid, and Mushrik and we have learned that we simply add a “mu” to a word to show that that person is a practitioner of something. Now, if we want to show the physical act of committing shirk, then we add a “yu” to the word, such yushrik… which is the physical act of committing shirk.

Therefore, a person who engages in yushrik( the physical act of shirk) is a mushrik(a practitioner of shirk).

Christians are Mushriks, because they worship Jesus as God. And as we sited on the top of the page, God has forbidden marriage to Mushriks (24:3).

We feel that it is important for a Western audience to start getting their feet wet with Arabic grammer so that they don’t fall prey to con -artists who take advantage of their ignorance, such as this clown Dr. Khaleel Mohammed. Here is another verse of the Quran Kaleel Mohammed withheld from his audience, which makes it unlawful for any “kuffar”(non believer) to be married to a Muslim woman:

O you who believe! When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them, Allah knows best as to their Faith, then if you ascertain that they are true believers, send them not back to the disbelievers, they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them. But give the disbelievers that (amount of money) which they have spent [as their Mahr] to them. And there will be no sin on you to marry them if you have paid their Mahr to them. Likewise hold not the disbelieving women as wives, and ask for (the return of) that which you have spent (as Mahr) and let them (the disbelievers, etc.) ask back for that which they have spent. That is the Judgement of Allah He judges between you. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (Al-Mumtahinah 60:10)

In conclusion, it is clear from the Quran in Surah 24:3 and 60:10 that God forbids marriage of Muslim women to Mushriks and nonbelievers(60:10), The marriage of Muslim woman to a Christian, Hindu, polytheists or any other disbelievers is forbidden, and those women who do so, are either Mushirkah (female Mushirk) or prostitutes according to the Quran.

Now let me ask you the reader a few questions:

“Why didn’t Dr. Khaleel Mohammed, a man educated at “traditional universities in the Middle East”, share with you verses 24:3 and 60:10? Why did he withhold this information from you? Do you really think a man who has a degree in Islamic studies could really be ignorant of these verses? I mean… all he had to do is just ask around, right? Now can you see why I call this “doctor” a clown? Now can you understand why I refer to Irshad Manji and her little goon Dr Khaleed Mohammed as con-artists?” Anyhow, it appears as if Dr. Kaleel Mohammed has been accused of “knowingly lying”, by people are NOT sympathetic to Islam.

The problem is not that there is some kind of “battle” between conservative Islam and liberal Islam as Irshad Manji claims. Rather the problem is that people such as her are openly trying to trick people into believing in “feel good” lies, and they don’t want to get caught. Thus, anyone who challenges Irshad Manji’s deception…”automagically” becomes a “conservative Muslim”, one that dominates mosques and oppresses people. Nothing can be further from the truth. Again, I repeat the real problem is that project ijtihad is dishonest, Manji’s ijtihad is designed to trick people by taking advantage of their ignorance into baseless beliefs that tantalize their taste buds. Therefore it is a question of honesty. Honestly examining Islam, and graciously accepting whatever bitter/sweet outcome that inquiry may bring.
