Irshad
Manji’s bogus
death threats and email scam:
Don’t believe the hype!

P. T. Barnum once said, “There is a sucker born every minute.” Irshad
Manji has claimed on her website that she has been receiving death
threats for at least the last three years now. Interestingly enough, Irshad
Manji has utilized these alleged death threats in a humongous self-promotion
marketing strategy, in which she has baited hundreds, if not thousands of
people all over the world! But there is only one problem -
Irshad Manji has provided NO credible proof of any real death threats.
Irshad Manji merely makes the claim. However, anyone who possesses critical
thinking skills will demand proof, before they draw any conclusions. There are
many honest questions a deciphering mind would ask about these alleged death
threats especially in light of the fact that they are being used for propaganda
purposes to smear the Muslims community as well as self promotion. Here are
some questions which should come to a discerning mind:
But apparently,
Irshad Manji does not need any proof! Just have a look at the credulous fools
from the Western countries that did not even bother to ask these relevant
questions:
( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( *
), ( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( *
), ( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( * ), ( * )
And finally,
we come to Irshad Manji’s conversion stories, in which she claims that Muslims
all over the worlds are embracing her liberal views, and even thanking her for
it J. But once again, just like her alleged
death threats, Irshad Manji provides NO proof of the existence of these liberal
converts, but simply posts alleged emails. To be quite honest with you, this is
the oldest trick in the book. Anyone can do this. Anyone can claim that they
are influencing people by simply making up stories and emails.
Let me be very
frank with Irshad Manji – Just
like how I doubt Pat Robertson’s faith healing demonstrations
he performs at the end of every show, like wise, I also doubt Irshad Manji’s
claims of liberal conversions and ‘death threats’. Sorry, I don’t buy it. Some
people will do anything for a buck and popularity. Irshad Manji’s lipstick and ijtihad project has for the most part, has only
attracted like-minded people, and help mobilize them under a single banner.
Nothing more.
In conclusion,
I leave you with Dr. Richard Carrier’s splendid article, in which he described the atmosphere
in which the New Testament were authored, and I think… his description is also
relevant for today’s times:
“There is abundant evidence that these were times replete with
kooks and quacks of all varieties, from sincere lunatics to ingenious frauds,
even innocent men mistaken for divine, and there was no end to the fools and
loons who would follow and praise them.”
