Dr. Ergun Caner is simply out of control. We would like to share with you just a few
claims made by Dr. Ergun Caner against Islam. These claims are so absurd and
outrageous, that even the most gullible Christian will not be swayed by them.
His claims against Islam are completely unfounded and out right bogus. If we
are wrong, then we challenge Dr. Caner to produce the evidence for his claims.
But don’t take our word for it, have a look for yourself:
At 17 minutes and 11 seconds of this interview,
Dr. Ergun Caner stated:
“There is no description in the Quran of
Allah, that would ever remotely show him to be the intimate, loving,caring, redeeming God of
Jehovah…”
Response:
The Quran states the following:
Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): "If you
(really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur'ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you of your sins.
And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Aali Imran 3:31)(*)
Verily, those who believe [in the Oneness of Allâh
and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW)] and work deeds of righteousness, the
Most Beneficent (Allâh) will bestow love for them
(in the hearts of the believers). (Maryam 19:96)(*)
And He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love (towards the pious who are real
true believers of Islâmic Monotheism), (Al-Buruj
85:14) (*)
In addition to that, here are the 99 names of Allah,
which Dr. Caner later informs us that “not one of them
are intimate” (17:44):

At 17 minutes and 53 seconds of the interview,
Dr. Ergun Caner stated:
“There is term in surah 50 that says Allah is also as
your jugular, which is a threat!
… Yea, he can get to you when he wants to.”
Response:
This is another false claim. There is nothing within
the context of Chapter 50:16 which would ever connotate that this is a threat. This is pure fabrication
on the part of Dr. Ergun Caner. In addition to that, when we turn to the early tafsir literature, we find a completely different
explanation:
“(And We are nearer to him than his
jugular vein.) means, His angels are nearer to man than his jugular vein.”
This is yet another example, of how this Dr. Ergun
Caner twists and distorts the meaning of the Quran for his own personal
pursuit.
At 13:00 min the following comments were made in an interview
with For Faith and Family:
“Jill, was there anything in your
research of the Quran and hadeeth that surprised you?”
”I guess I really didn’t realize that Muhammed believed that the woman
determined the sex of the child, when the women gives birth to a child and it’s
a daughter, you know, that’s why a husband can divorce his wife, if she does
not produce male children, some Muslim mothers have been welcomed with a
slap in the face after giving birth to a daughter instead of a son”
Response:
Outrageous lies and deception. This was a comment made by his ignorant wife,
but it was done in his presence and with his loving approval. It appears that
his wife is just as big of a nut case as him. Nevertheless, none of these
assertions are true. Giving birth to a daughter is not grounds for divorce,
this is pure fabrication. Rather Islam teaches the exact opposite:

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If
anyone has a female child, and does not bury her alive, or slight her, or
prefer his children (i.e. the male ones) to her, Allah will bring him into Paradise. Uthman did not mention "male
children".
The Quran also states on this matter:
And when the news of (the birth of) a
female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is
filled with inward grief! (An-Nahl 16:58)(*)
He hides himself from the people
because of the evil of that whereof he has been informed. Shall he keep her
with dishonour or bury her in the earth[]? Certainly, evil is their
decision. (An-Nahl 16:59)(*)
As for her comments about slapping a woman in the face, Islam clearly condemns
this behavior:

Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri:
Mu'awiyah asked: Apostle of Allah, what is
the right of the wife of one of us over him? He replied: That you should give
her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not strike
her on the face, do not revile her or separate yourself from her except in
the house. (*)
Finally,
we leave you with the following racist remark (25:44) he made against Muslims
for the entertainment of his white audience:
“he reaches
into Louisville, he reaches into Kentucky, he reaches into America, and he reached me
thousands of miles away as a towel head…”
“Offensive”,
“revolting” do not adequately describe how I feel
about this racist smear and his “Uncle Tom” behavior. I believe I speak for the
vast majority of Muslims, in that we won’t simply remain silent about these
types of racist remarks. In conclusion, after witnessing such pathological
lying, distortion of the facts, and poor scholarship the burning questions
which should be on everyone’s mind, is how can such an ignorant man become the
dean of a college? What does it have to say for the type of education Liberty University
offers? Have you ever heard or read of such a despicable character becoming the
dean of any college?
